The 15-yard is perfect for your smaller residential jobs or heavier, compact materials like brick or tile. With its lower 4-foot rim, you can toss material over its side easily but still, have enough space for moderate bathroom or kitchen remodels with its 12-foot length and 8-foot width.
The 20-yard container is a great size to handle most residential or smaller commercial jobs easily with its 14-foot length. A larger remodel or interior tear-out is also manageable with the 20-yard and its 6-foot high sides and 8-foot width.
The 30-yard container is the most common roll-off for large cleanups, interior demos, or expansive yard cleanups. At 21-foot length, 6-foot high sides, and 8-feet width, it can handle a lot. If you’re undecided on size then bring on out the 30-yard and play it safe.
A bit cumbersome for most residential projects, the 40-yard can be suited for large demolition projects. Its large size can handle a large amount of construction debris. Its footprint on a job site is substantial, however, coming in at 21-foot long, 8-foot high, and 8-foot wide.
First Time Renter Tips
There are a few things to remember when renting a roll-off container. Destination Dumpsters is invested in making sure you get your rental delivered with no issues. Ahead of your dumpster arrival, make sure any gates are unlocked, open, and accessible for the truck to make it through. Any cars blocking the road or driveway should also be moved so they aren’t stuck behind a dumpster until their removal. Make sure any pets are safe and secured before delivery as well. When loading the dumpster, make sure to never load past the fill line marked inside the container or the rim itself. And never load heavy items like bricks or shingles more than halfway full inside the dumpster or it’ll be too heavy for pickup. Also, make sure dense or compact materials don’t congregate toward the front of the container—this makes it exponentially more difficult to load the container back onto the truck for removal. When do you need us to come and pick up the dumpster, remember to give us a call!
Preparing For Your Roll-Off Container
There are a few essential steps to prepare your property or job site for your roll-off container. Always make sure you have a suitable placement area. Also, if there are any gates make sure they are open on the day of delivery. Beware of any hanging branches or other obstructions which may block the delivery truck. Make sure if the roll-off is to be placed on dirt that it is suitably dry. A roll-off weighs several tons by itself, even without any material placed inside, so it is important to provide a firm foundation for your dumpster rental.
Preparing Your Worksite
A Destination Dumpster is not lightweight. Proper preparation for your dumpster is key. Make sure you have an area with a firm foundation—concrete, gravel, or asphalt is best. Grass or dirt can lead to a stuck dumpster and additional removal charges and also to landscape damage from the heavy truck and container. Our roll-offs are mostly 8 feet wide, with varying height and length, and our trucks need a 12-foot horizontal clearance, so it’s best to measure any gates or tight spots on your job site or property before ordering a dumpster. In addition, look out for any power lines or tree branches, when offloading the dumpster we usually need 14 feet of vertical clearance to safely roll back the dumpster.
Onsite Delivery
Destination Dumpsters is committed to making sure you have a great dumpster rental experience. We are here to coordinate your delivery experience and make sure it goes smoothly. If you have placement concerns we are here to help you figure out a strategy for delivery. If there are possible obstacles such as questions about the required width of gates or driveways, we will be able to help you come up with a delivery plan.
Opening A Roll-Off Container
All roll-off containers come equipped with a door on the back that can be opened. Simply unhook the pin and pull back the swinging door to open the roll-off and access the inside of your dumpster. This can be useful to roll larger items into the dumpster, like furniture or the like. Once you’ve filled up your rental with the bulky items, you can then close the door and lob material over the side. Remember, before you call for a switch out or a final removal of your container, make sure the door is securely closed.
Prohibited Items In A Dumpster
Destination Dumpsters can help you dispose of almost everything you may be needing to get rid of, but there are some items and materials that shouldn’t be placed inside the dumpster. Some of the most common of these banned items are appliances like refrigerators, washers, stoves, dryers, and water heaters. Mattresses are also unable to be loaded into the container because of their springs. And also beware of not tossing in any chemical products, tires, or bulk electronics like tube TVs and computer monitors. And last but perhaps most importantly, our containers can’t handle any dirt or concrete.
Weight Distribution
It’s very important when loading a dumpster to not only respect the fill line but also make sure the material is distributed throughout the container. An unbalanced roll-off dumpster is more likely to give our truck trouble when trying to pick it up. Being unable to pick up a roll-off when removal is called for can incur dry run charges. Especially for very heavy materials like shingles or bricks, it’s important to make sure the material is spread out, and extra important to make sure it’s not built up toward the front of the container, which makes it even more difficult for the truck to pull the roll-off dumpster onto its back. Ensuring your material is equally distributed is a vital step before calling for a switch out of your current container or its removal.
Portable Toilet Accommodations
An invaluable part of any job site is proper restroom accommodations. Don’t leave your crew or guests hanging without the comfort of a clean portable toilet. No matter if it’s for a bustling commercial site or a hopping event, we bring the Destination brand of excellence to your rental experience. We service each toilet at least once a week, but additional services are also available.
What Do We Have To Offer?
We offer 3 different styles of toilets for your project or event. Our two main types for construction and clean up jobs are our standard and ADA-compliant, handicap accessible portable toilets. Also, for your larger events, we can provide restroom trailers for your guests to accommodate as they enjoy your other festivities.
What's Features Are Included?
Inside each of our portable toilets there is a non-flushing toilet that is capable of handling one person at a time. Other product features included with this rental are non-slip floors, hinged seats, a wall-mounted toilet paper dispenser, locking doors, ventilation vents, and translucent ceilings for natural lighting. Inside our handicap-accessible toilet, you will also find guide rails and extra space to move around in for your added comfort.
When Should It Be Serviced?
When you place an order for one of our portable toilets, we service it weekly unless specified otherwise. During the weekly service visit, our worker will pump the waste from the toilet and sanitize the toilet and the inside of the facility. Each service visit also provides you with two additional rolls of toilet paper and a toilet bowl cleanser. If any additional service visits are needed, this will incur an additional fee.
FAQs
A dumpster needs a solid home! Make sure to have a clear spot on gravel, compact dirt or preferably concrete. These are the safest bets for dumpster placement to mitigate the chance of damage. The most common placement for a roll-off container is in the driveway. If you wish to have your rental placed in the street, you may need to procure a permit from the city. Also remember to look for any overhanging power lines which could get in the way of your rental.
Delivery times can vary due to the season, weather, distance and landfill activity. Since we dump each roll-off between taking it to its next home, unexpected delays at the landfill can set back our schedule. Give us a call as soon as possible to find out when we can bring you a roll-off and kickstart your next disposal project!
Yes, you should always call when you’ve filled your roll-off container or you are done with it. We don’t automatically pick up our containers when your agreed upon rental time is over—please give us a call to next incur any late fees with your roll-off rental. So in summary, you do need to call for removal, and it’s a vital step of the rental process!
If your dumpster overfloweth, it may be time to call in for an exchange! Getting a dumpster switched out is like ordering a new one. A driver will bring you a fresh container to place and then pick up and remove the full container. There is both an art and science to when to call for an exchange. If you see your container filling quickly, it’s best to get ahead of the piling debris and call us for an exchange! Just remember, no material can be spilling over the sides, make sure it’s all strictly below the rim or fill-line with nothing sticking past so the truck can lower a tarp across it to secure the load.
